Abstract: With the continuous advancement of China’s “dual carbon” policy and the increasing environmental awareness of consumers, research on carbon reduction technologies for microfiber synthetic leather has continued to deepen. This paper mainly explores the application of bio-based resins in microfiber synthetic leather. By comparing the properties of bio-based resin microfiber synthetic leather with those of petroleum-based resin microfiber synthetic leather, including breaking strength, tear strength, peel strength, and water absorption, the performance of bio-based resins in microfiber synthetic leather was determined. The results indicate that there is essentially no difference in breaking strength or tear strength between biobased resin synthetic leather and petroleum-based resin synthetic leather, while the hydrolysis-resistant peel strength is slightly lower, and the water absorption is slightly higher. Based on a comprehensive evaluation,bio-based resins can meet the application requirements of microfiber synthetic leather in fields such as footwear and luggage. Meanwhile, the use of bio-based resins can achieve a significant reduction in carbon emissions compared to petroleum-based resins.
