Abstract: Wrinkled fabrics are widely used in apparel and accessories design due to their distinctive creased-texture aesthetics. This paper proposes the design of a micro-wrinkled fabric that can be directly woven into shape by combining the appearance characteristics of crepe fabrics and pleated fabrics. Through sample analysis, the relationships between color block size, crease width, and weft density with the degree of fabric wrinkling were examined, and elastic recovery performance tests were conducted to evaluate the fabric’s shape retention. Through weaving and performance testing, it was found that the designed microwrinkled fabric can be formed in a single process with good shape retention, featuring clear and fine creases. The wrinkling effect significantly surpasses that of conventional crepe fabrics and also incorporates pleating effects comparable to those obtained through secondary processes such as heat pressing and sewing, providing a new option for the design of wrinkled apparel and accessories.
