Abstract: With consumption upgrading and consumers’ growing pursuit of healthy lifestyles, functional textiles have become a key driver for the textile industry’s advancement toward high-end development. As a crucial link connecting fiber innovation with end-use applications, the development level of functional yarns directly influences the competitiveness of textile products. Based on the research outcomes of China Yarn Fashion Trends, this paper systematically reviews the current development status of functional yarns in the cotton spinning industry across major fields, including antibacterial and deodorizing, moisture absorption and quick-drying, UV protection, cooling comfort, thermal insulation and heat retention, intelligent temperature regulation, flame retardancy and protection, as well as antistatic and radiation-resistant properties. Future development trends for functional yarns are also projected.
