Recent Advances and Future Development Trends of Weaving Equipment and Technology

Abstract: During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025), Chinese-produced weaving machinery has largely replaced imported equipment in basic textile processing, thanks to its high cost-performance ratio. Its market share and industrial influence have steadily grown. To clarify the development trajectory of weaving equipment and technology, identify core technical characteristics, pinpoint bottlenecks, and define pathways for upgrading, this article systematically assesses the current state of the weaving machinery industry. It reviews recent advances and key features of domestic weaving equipment and technologies, and conducts an in-depth analysis of the gaps between Chinese and international counterparts—particularly in high-speed operational efficiency and stability, reliability of electrical control systems, and innovativeness of intelligent technologies. The study finds that leading global manufacturers maintain a strong edge in fundamental research on weaving mechanisms, development of intelligent control systems, and innovations in energy-saving technologies. While Chinese weaving machines demonstrate significant advantages in basic applications, shortcomings remain in the performance of high-end models and in the originality of electrical and intelligent systems. Against the backdrop of advances in weaving equipment driven by new-quality productive forces, the article proposes that future weaving equipment will evolve toward higher speeds and efficiency, intelligent interconnectivity, and green, low-carbon operations. Targeted policy recommendations include strengthening fundamental theoretical research, improving equipment design methodologies,focusing R&D efforts on core components and accessories, and enhancing production management capabilities.
