Abstract: Hydrogen energy is a clean energy source with many advantages, such as high energy density, environmental friendliness, and renewability. In recent years, it has developed rapidly, but the technology for storing and transporting hydrogen is lagging behind, which seriously limits the large-scale application of the hydrogen energy industry. Currently, high-pressure gaseous hydrogen storage is the most mature technology. Among these, high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinders serve as key carriers for storing hydrogen gas and are crucial for enabling large-scale hydrogen energy use. As the demands for hydrogen storage density increase in the industry, so do the requirements for the safety and reliability of these cylinders. Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and exhibits excellent fatigue performance.High-pressure hydrogen storage cylinders made by winding CFRP can meet the demands for high-pressure hydrogen storage and transportation, marking an important development for the hydrogen energy sector.This paper introduces high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinders and reviews the current research status,preparation techniques, application challenges, and future development trends of CFRP in these cylinders to inspire further research in this area.
