Industrial Value-added of China’s Textile Industry up by 5.3% in Jan.-Feb. 2026

China’s value-added industrial output, an important economic indicator, went up 6.3% year on year in the first two months of 2026, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed. The pace was 1.1 percentage points faster than the level in December last year, according to the NBS. In February alone, the industrial output grew 0.83% from January.

The industrial output is used to measure the activity of large enterprises, each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about US$2.9 million).

In the first two months this year, the textile industry’s value-added output increased by 5.3%. By product, in Jan.-Feb., production of 397 of 626 product types increased year-on-year. Among them, fabric output increased by 4.6% year-on-year in Jan.-Feb. period to 4.4 billion meters. And the output of chemical fibers grew by 6.9% year-on-year in the first two months to 13.80 million tons.
