China’s value-added industrial output expanded 5.7% year on year in July, official data showed. The growth slowed from a 6.8% rise in June, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
In the first seven months of this year, China’s industrial output increased by 6.3% compared to the same period last year.
The industrial output is used to measure the activity of large enterprises, each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about US$2.8 million).
A breakdown of the data showed that the manufacturing sector’s value-added output increased by 6.2% year on year in July, while that of the textile industry grew by 1.7% year on year in July.
By product, in the first five months, the production of 335 out of 623 kinds of products increased year-on-year. Among them, fabric output increased by 1.9% year-on-year in July to 2.7 billion meters and grew by 0.3% year-on-year from January to July to 18.3 billion meters. And the output of chemical fibers grew by 4.6% year-on-year in July to 7.34 million tons and increased 5.0% year-on-year to 49.98 million in the first seven months.
