Industrial Value-added of China’s Textile Industry up by 4.1% in H1, 2025

China’s value-added industrial output grew faster in June, rising 6.8 percent year on year as the world’s second-largest economy increased efforts to support growth despite domestic and international challenges. The growth sped up from a 5.8 percent increase in May, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). 

In the first six months of this year, China’s industrial output rose 6.4 percent compared to the same period last year, based on NBS data. Industrial output measures the activity of large enterprises, each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about US$2.8 million).

By product, in the first half of 2025, the production of 379 out of 623 types of products increased year-on-year. Among them, fabric output rose by 0.4% year over year in June to 2.8 billion meters, with the growth rate remaining steady from January to June at 15.4 billion meters. Additionally, the output of chemical fibers grew by 4.7% year over year in June to 7.36 million tons, and it increased by 4.9% year over year to 42.36 million tons in the first half of 2025.
