China’s Textile and Apparel Exports Declined in July

According to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs, China’s textile and apparel exports fell again in July under the influence of declining external demand, reduced orders and a high base of 2022.

In CNY-denominated terms, from January to July, the cumulative textile and apparel exports amounted to CNY 1.18 trillion, down 3.8% year-on-year. Thereinto, textile exports amounted to CNY 546.05 billion, down 5.7% year-on-year; apparel exports amounted to CNY 631.14 billion, decreasing by 2.1% year-on-year.

In July alone, textile and apparel exports reached CNY 193.99 billion, seeing a year-on-year decline of 13.2%. Among them, textile exports were CNY 79.78 billion, declining by 12.7% year-on-year; apparel exports were CNY 114.21 billion, down by 13.6% year-on-year.

In US$-denominated terms, from January to July, China’s textile and apparel exports totaled US$ 169.79 billion, seeing a year-on-year decline of 10%. Among them, textile exports were US$ 78.85 billion, seeing a year-on-year decline of 11.9%; apparel exports reached US$90.94 billion, dropping by 8.3% year-on-year.

In July, textile and apparel exports amounted to US$ 27.11 billion, down by 18.3% year-on-year. Thereinto, textile exports amounted to US$ 11.15 billion, down 17.8% year-on-year; apparel exports amounted to US$ 15.96 billion, down 18.7% year-on-year.
