Industrial Value-added of China's Textile Industry down 1.7% from January – July

China's value-added industrial output, an important economic indicator, went up 3.5% year on year in the first seven months of this year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed.


In July alone, industrial output growth registered 3.8% year-on-year and it was 0.38% higher than the previous month, according to the NBS.


The industrial output is used to measure the activity of designated large enterprises with an annual business turnover of at least CNY 20 million yuan (about US$ 2.97 million).


The manufacturing output increased by 2.7% year-on-year in July and 2.7% in the first seven months. Thereinto, the textile industry's value-added output declined by 4.8% in July and decreased by 1.7% in the January-July period. By product, in July, the production of 260 out of 617 kinds of products increased year on year. The output of fabric dropped by 9.4% year-on-year to 3.1 billion meters in July and decreased by 4.7% to 21 billion meters in the January-July period; while the output of chemical fibers declined by 7.0% to 5.56 million tons in July and decreased by 0.4% to 39.17 million tons in the January-July period.
