China's Printing and Dyeing Industry is Moving Towards a Green and Sustainable Direction

2020/8/25

In recent years, pollution is seen as one of society's great headaches, prompting the Chinese government to speed up the legislation of environmental protection and continuously increase environmental protection supervision. In doing so, several enterprises of the dye intermediate industry that do not meet environmental protection standards are subject to supervision and punishment. A large number of small and medium-sized enterprises will withdraw from the dye intermediate industry, and the industry's attention is gradually becoming more energy-saving and environmentally friendly. In the future, mergers and acquisitions of enterprises in the printing and dyeing industry will become an inevitable development trend, which will further promote the industry concentration.

China actively encourages the transformation and upgrading of the dye industry to energy conservation and environmental protection. The "Textile Industry Development Plan (2016-2020)" clearly proposes that the industry should accelerate the green development process, strengthen the basic management of green manufacturing, develop advanced green manufacturing technologies, and build a green manufacturing system. And the "Guiding on the 13th Five-Year Development of the Printing and Dyeing Industry" puts forward that the key tasks during the 13th "Five-year Plan" period (2016-2020) should be developing eco-friendly dyes and auxiliaries, promoting water-saving and energy-saving technology, and applying low-cost and high-efficiency wastewater and waste gas treatment technologies.

With the implementation of China's environmental protection law, leading dyestuff companies have actively invested in research and development with low pollution and low energy consumption as well as the application of clean treatment technologies for pollutants.

The current printing and dyeing industry is gradually moving towards the goal of "no pollution and low energy consumption". Sustainable printing and dyeing have become the development direction of the industry. Among them, digital printing has become representative of new technology. As for traditional textile printing, its effect is monotonous, which also need long production time, and high water consumption. While digital printing technology has broken through the bottleneck of textile printing. It meets the low-carbon and sustainable development requirements and is one of the industries that the government will try to help as well in the future.
