Abstract: A new type of instrument FTT was used to test cotton shirt fabric with sanding process to characterize handling. The influence of sanding process to the handling was discussed. The results showed that sanding process had significant effect on the bending properties, compressive properties, surface properties and thermal properties of cotton fabrics. After sanding process, the warp and weft banding strength decreased; the compressive and recovery strength decreased, as well as the thermal conductivity and the maximum heat flux value. Moreover, the surface friction coefficient of cotton fabric increased after sanding process.
