Industrial Value-added of China’s Textile Industry Above Designated Size up by 3.1% in January to July

China’s value-added industrial output increased by 5.3% year on year in the first seven months of 2026, official data showed. In July alone, industrial output grew 4.5% year on year and 0.11% month on month, NBS data revealed.

From January to June, total profits of China’s industrial firms above designated size reached 3.948 trillion yuan (about US$581.67 billion), up 18.7 percent year on year.

Industrial output is used to measure the activity of large enterprises each with an annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan.

A breakdown of the data showed that the manufacturing sector grew by 5.6% in the first seven months of this year and 5.5% in July alone. By product, in July, the production of 279 out of 626 kinds of products increased year-on-year. Among them, fabric output increased by 2.0% year-on-year in July to 2.6 billion meters and grew by 3.3% year-on-year from January to July to 17.2 billion meters. And the output of chemical fibers declined by 1.7% year-on-year in July to 7.06 million tons and increased 1.1% year-on-year to 49.07 million tons in the first seven months of 2026.
