Industrial Value-added of China’s Textile Industry Above Designated Size up by 3.5% in the First Four Months of 2026

China’s value-added industrial output increased by 5.6% year on year in the first four months of 2026, official data showed. In April alone, industrial output grew 4.1% year on year, and rose 0.05% compared to the previous month, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics. The industrial output is used to measure the activity of large enterprises each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about US$2.92 million).

A breakdown of the data showed that the manufacturing sector’s grew by 5.8% in the first four months. By product, in April, the production of 321 out of 626 kinds of products increased year-on-year. Among them, fabric output increased by 0.8% year-on-year in April to 2.5 billion meters and grew by 3.0% year-on-year from January to April to 9.4 billion meters. And the output of chemical fibers declined by 3.9% year-on-year in April to 7.05 million tons and increased 3.2% year-on-year to 28.81 million in the first four months of 2026.
