China's Textile and Apparel Exports Resumed Rapid Growth in May

Since mid-to-late May, the main producer of textiles and apparel in China saw a resumed growth. According to customs statistics, in US$-denominated terms, China's textile and apparel exports increased by 20.36% year-on-year and 23.89% month-on-month, all higher than the growth rate of national trade in goods.


From January to May, the exports of textiles and apparel were US$ 125.06 billion, seeing year-on-year growth of 11.18%. Thereinto, textile exports were US$ 62.85 billion, up by 12.14% year-on-year; that of apparel totaled US$ 62.22 billion, up by 10.22% year-on-year.


In May alone, the exports of textile and apparel totaled US$ 29.23 billion, up by 20.36% year-on-year and 23.89% month-on-month. Thereinto, textile exports were US$ 14.03 billion, increasing 15.76% year-on-year and 14.43% month-on-month. The exports of apparel totaled US$ 15.2 billion, seeing year-on-year growth of 24.93% and month-on-month growth of 34.12%.


In CNY-denominated terms, from January to May, the exports of textiles and apparel totaled CNY 797.47 billion, up by 9.06% year-on-year. Thereinto, textile exports were CNY 400.72 billion, seeing year-on-year growth of 10.01%; apparel exports were CNY 396.75 billion, up by 8.12% year-on-year.


In May alone, the export of textiles and apparel reached CNY 187.2 billion, up by 24.54% over April. Among them, the textile exports were CNY 89.84 billion, up by 13.97% year-on-year and 15.03% month-on-month. The apparel export reached CNY 97.36 billion, seeing a year-on-year increase of 22.76% and a month-on-month increase of 34.83%.
