Prosperity Index of China Cotton Textile Industry Down in April

The prosperity index of China's cotton textile industry came in at 48.85 in April, down 2.23 from March, which is lower than the boom-bust line.


In April, the raw material purchasing index came in at 48.77, down by 4.82 over March; the raw material inventory index came in at 48.01, up by 0.25 month-on-month; the production index was 47.14, down by 2.79 from March; the product sales index came in at 46.16, down by 1.92 from March; the product inventory index was 47.12, up by 0.45 from March and the business index came in at 45.74, declined by 4.17 from the previous month.


The prosperity index of China's cotton textile industry is based on the weighted calculation of numerous main indicators of about 200 backbone cotton textile enterprises. A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below reflects contraction.
