Prosperity Index of China Cotton Textile Industry Declined in April

The prosperity index of China's cotton textile industry came in at 46.51 in April, down 5.31 from March. With the accelerated recovery of the domestic consumer market, if the positive impact of the terminal goods such as apparel and home textiles can be successfully transmitted to the upper and middle reaches, China's cotton textile industry is expected to usher in a recovery.


In April, the raw material purchasing index came in at 45.67, down 5.58 over March; the raw material inventory index came in at 47.45, declined by 1.26 month-on-month; the production index was 47.24, down 6.96 from March; the product sales index came in at 45.33, down 8.33 from March; the product inventory index was 46.56, decreased by 2.3 from March and the business index came in at 45.71, down 6.13 from the previous month.

Referring to the formulation methods of PMI and other indexes, the prosperity index of China's cotton textile industry is based on the weighed calculation of numerous main indicators of about 400 cotton textile enterprises. A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below reflects contraction.
