China's Cotton Imports Increased in 2019

In 2019, China's cotton output fell slightly, and its imports increased. According to customs statistics, in 2019, China imported about 1.85 million tons of cotton, seeing a year-on-year increase of 17.6%. Brazil became the largest import source country, Australia ranked second, and the United States ranked third.


According to statistics, in December 2019, China imported 154,000 tons of cotton, down 29.8% year-on-year, seeing a growth of 46.2% from the previous month. In 2019, China accumulative total import of cotton reached 1.84 million tons, up 17.4% over the same period of 2018.
