Evaluation of the Moisture-absorbent and Quick-drying Unidirectional Water Transport Functional Fabrics

Abstract: The paper selected a new-type weft-knitted fabric to study its moisture-absorbent and quickdrying properties. A novel cationic dye-based atmospheric dyed polyester (NECDP) fiber with good moisture-absorbent property was designed and developed as its surface layer, and the polypropylene (PP) or fine denier polyester (PET) fiber with non-hygroscopic property as its inner layer. The paper compared it with three fabrics with different stitches, which surface layer was viscose and profiled cross-section conventional polyester, and evaluated their moisture-absorbent and quick-drying properties via liquid water dynamic transfer performance measurement method. Results indicated that this new-type fabric has superior moisture-absorbent and quick-drying properties, providing a reference for the development of functional sportswear in the future.
