Abstract: Regional culture is the root of traditional handicrafts. Han embroidery of Hubei Province, which is influenced by local Jing-Chu culture through the history, has its unique artistic characteristics. This paper analyzes the traits of Jing-Chu culture, including the god worship, romanticism and indomitable spirit, via colors, patterns and materials of Han embroidery. Under the current homogenization of embroideries, Han embroidery is expected to retain original traits and develop preferably.
