Application and Development Prospect of Natural Fiber Reinforced Plastics

Abstract: Natural fiber reinforced plastics (NFRP) is a new type of material that uses natural fibers and a thermoplastic resin matrix or a thermosetting resin matrix to compound. Natural fibers have a unique position in the field of composite materials for their advantages, including low density, good specific modulus performance, good sound insulation effect, recyclability and low price. Therefore, the use of natural fibers as reinforcing materials to prepare composite materials, that is, the sustainability of composite materials, has become one of the development directions of composites science and technology. At present, green composites reinforced by natural fibers have been applied in many industries, including automotive, construction, aviation, rail transit, and sporting goods.
