Abstract: Southeast Asia is the main cooperation partner of China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative and the main textile and garment production bases in the world. The paper studies the characteristics of the textile and garment trade between China and Southeast Asia by an empirical method. The result showed that China exports textile to and imports garments from Southeast Asia. Among them, Vietnam is China’s largest textile export market in the world and the exporter of textile and apparel. Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia are the main export markets of Chinese textiles and the source of apparel imports. The trade intensity of textile and garment between China and Southeast Asia is very high, of which that of China’s export to Southeast Asia is intense. Hence the textile trade between China and Southeast Asian countries has both competition and cooperation, and cooperation is becoming closer and gradually deepening.
