Abstract: In order to develop a new fabric-type sand barrier, the experiment carried out research on the influence of the sand barrier structure and the thickness of the yarn on the windproof performance of the sand barrier by using the fabric model established by Pro-E, the ANSYS Workbench numerical simulation platform, and the self-made windproof test device. The numerical experiment results showed that the reasonable yarn density for the sand barrier is 50~60 tex, and the density of warp and weft is about 65 yarns/10 cm×65 yarns/10 cm. The sand barrier can reduce the inlet wind speed from 20 m/s, which is equivalent to the fresh gale, to a wind speed of 4 m/s, which is equivalent to a level 3 breeze, and the windproof efficiency is as high as 80%. At different heights from the ground, sand barriers have different windproof efficiency, and the maximum wind-proof efficiency of some areas close to the ground can reach 100%. According to the windproof distance of a single row of sand barriers, the paper calculates that when the yarn cross section is 1.1 mm×1.54 mm, the optimal distance between the double-row sand barriers laid in parallel is about 98.4 cm. When the density of warp and weft is 65×yarns/10 cm×65 yarns/10 cm, the optimal distance between the double-row sand barriers is about 132 cm.
