Research Progress of Nano Selenium in Biomedical Materials

Abstract: Nano selenium is composed of single selenium (Se0). Compared with inorganic selenium, nano selenium has higher biological activity and lower toxicity. It has a significant application effect in the field of biomedicine. In order to further promote the research and application of nano selenium materials in the field of biomedical materials, this paper reviews related research progress of nano selenium at China and abroad. The paper introduces three main methods of preparing highly effective and stable selenium nanoparticles and related characteristics; the main biomedical functions and mechanism of nano selenium,including antibacterial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation and immunity enhancement; as well as the main applications of nano selenium in biomedical materials, such as antibacterial fiber materials, medical dressings and coatings, drug carriers, biosensors and health products. In the end, the paper looks forward to the prospect of the application of nano selenium in biomedical materials and provides related suggestions.
