Progress and Prospect of Sustainable Technology for Packaging Polyester Industry Chain

Abstract: Polyester has been widely used in the field of retail packaging bottles (disposable bottles and durable bottles), sheet materials (vacuum forming pack), and film, etc. This paper introduced related technologies, including bio-based raw materials, optimization process of synthesis technology, newtype catalyst, polyester modification, and biodegradation, etc. Meanwhile, the paper also summarized the innovative technologies in the processing, including multi-layer coextrusion, barrier spraying, compression molding, and recycled technology. It is expected that the output value of the packaging industry will exceed US$ 1 trillion in 2024. And green packaging, use safety, recycling, biological recycling and biodegradation industrialization will become the focus of the industrial chain. On this basis, the paper looks forward to the development of related fields.
