A New Method for Testing Unidirectional Moisture-transfer Ability of Knitted Fabric

Abstract: Self-made experimental device, i.e., fabric transverse wicking tester, used the surface mechanics principle to test the wicking pressure, wicking time and the wicking pressure difference between the two sides of the fabric in contact with the liquid. In combination with the wicking curve, the experiment characterized the transfer properties of liquid water based on different fabric thickness. The experimental results showed that this test method can accurately evaluate the fabric one-way moisture-transfer ability in a short time, and the coefficient of variation of wicking pressure of the sample is less than 1%. What’s more, the method also has the advantages of short test time, low cost and good repeatability, and the tester is simple structure and convenient operation, which is easy to promote to the market.
