The Influence of Apertures on Shielding Effectiveness of Electromagnetic Radiation Shielding Fabric

Abstract: The shielding mechanism of electromagnetic radiation shielding fabric is explored in this paper. The shielding effect of three kinds of such fabric, including copper-plated fabric, nickel-plated fabric and copper-nickel-plated fabric, are tested in standard magnetic field, and the shielding effect of those with apertures in different lengths and diameters are particularly stressed. The test results show that apertures have evident effect on the shielding effect of the fabric, so it is necessary to reduce slits and openings to the minimum when making shielding garment.
