China Offered Emergency Humanitarian Aid to Russia (08/13/2010)

Recently, Russia asked for international aid for Russian regions ravaged by serious wildfires since this July, which caused heavy casualties and loss of property.

MOFCOM Spokesman Yao Jian stated in his speech on August 11, that the Chinese government and people felt strongly about the sufferings of the Russian people and decided to provide Russia with US$ 1 million in cash and 20 million yuan of material to help the Russian government and people in its disaster relief efforts. At present, China has activated the emergency humanitarian aid mechanism to deliver the relief supplies to Russia by air as soon as possible.

Yao stated that the Russian people would surmount this unprecedented natural disaster and recover the beauty of their motherland.
